Sunrise

I stand upon the cliffs at dawn
And watch the sun rise bright
I hear it sing its song of joy
To fill the world with light

I see it shine upon the lake
And from the silent deep
I hear a whisper of content
From those who lie asleep

I mark its touch upon the heights
Of every mountain peak
To set the very stones afire
Which once were cold and bleak

Then at last I feel the warmth
Its touch against my skin
And I rejoice in endless fire
As I let the sunlight in
